What if there wasn’t a specific number on the scale when you stepped on it to see your weight, and instead it said something like, “You’re doing great today,” “Have you had enough fruit today?” or “Remember to laugh at least once today.” What if numbers didn’t exist?

Early on in my art career I came across Sean Scully’s work and have been fascinated by him ever since. His career showcases the art of doing one thing over and over.

Many years ago I joined a class…much to my surprise, I was the worst in the class. Seriously. The other students had taken an online course of Mary’s so they were way ahead of where I was. It was here that I first learned so many things I didn’t know I needed to learn. Being a beginner was one of the best things that could happen for me! The reason may surprise you.

There are tons and tons of things right around you that you aren’t noticing that could feed your inspiration. And once you find one thing, more and more will come because you are NOTICING and OBSERVING.

Yesterday I was browsing the small section of art books in the Bainbridge Island library and I pulled two of them out to look through.

One is titled This is Pollack. It’s a small book and I’ve never seen it before. It’s short, which I love because I want to skim things sometimes and this is perfect. What happened next was surprising.
